Durible design Recommended for single-patient use . Developed by endodontists for endodontists and for all dental clinicians practicing microscopic dentistry, ScopeShield is a patented universal personal protective device designed for all operating microscopes.
Our innovative design provides clinician protection from potentially infectious aerosols and splatter while allowing the clinician direct visual access to microscope eyepiece optics without the need for a face shield. Our proprietary materials are hypoallergenic and our transparent design offers direct visualization of the patient, the operative site, and accompanying armamentarium — all while providing needed protection. It’s easy to mount, easy to remove, and saves time and effort by making bulky, unsightly plastic sheeting unnecessary.
Clinical Pathway Reference
Explore the clinical context for this product in the RootRadar pathway on Operator Protection and Optical Clarity.
Microscope lens protection is not a generic PPE problem — it is a geometry problem. Standard face shields and plastic drapes do not address the specific spatial relationship between the clinician’s face, the eyepiece optics, and the aerosol field generated at the operative site. ScopeShield was designed for this exact interface: a purpose-built barrier that maintains optical clarity, accommodates varying interpupillary distances, and eliminates the interruptions that generic solutions create during a procedure.

ScopeShield maintains a seal around the microscope eyepiece optics at various interpupillary distances and provides operator protection and safety from aerosols and splatter. Our patented (Abdennour & Pagonis) material design is gentle to your microscope eyepiece optics yet durable during an operative procedure. Our proprietary materials are hypoallergenic and our innovative design provides direct visual access to microscope settings and adjustments, direct visualization of the patient, the procedure, and accompanying armamentarium.
ScopeShield features an updated, durable material design. For optimal infection-control consistency, ScopeShield is recommended as a single-patient-use protective barrier. The barrier unit should be removed from the microscope and disposed of after each patient rather than relying on surface disinfection as a substitute for replacement.
1) Set the microscope on a stable surface.
2) Remove the protective film covering from your ScopeShield (on the non-logo side) and align pre-cut openings with the optics of the microscope.
** Note that some microscope optics come with removable rubber protective coverings which should be removed before aligning pre-cut openings to the microscope optics.
3) Insert the first pre-cut opening to the corresponding microscope optic.
4) Insert the second pre-cut opening to the corresponding microscope optic.
** If applicable, re-insert the rubber protective coverings over the microscope optics.
5) Adjust the microscope inter-pupillary distance.
6) You’re ready to see your patient!
1) My ScopeShield slightly curves in with an extremely small interpupillary distance setting — is this normal?
Yes, ScopeShield is designed to accommodate varying interpupillary distances within typical ranges but you may notice slight curving with extremely small (or large) interpupillary microscope settings.
2) How do I dispose of my ScopeShield after a dental procedure?
ScopeShield is recommended as a single-patient-use protective barrier for dental procedures performed with a dental operating microscope. The ScopeShield barrier unit should be removed from the microscope and disposed of after each patient.
Although the main body of the material is durable, surface disinfection should not be relied upon as a substitute for replacement between patients when ScopeShield is used as a protective barrier.
Dispose of ScopeShield in accordance with applicable state, local, and practice infection-control protocols.
